The Government of Canada has implemented the ecoENERGY Retrofit initiative with the goal of increasing the efficiency of housing across Canada.
The residential energy evaluation service was developed by Natural Resources Canada to provide expert, third-party advice to homeowners and home buyers about how to improve the energy efficiency of their homes while maintaining or improving the home's indoor environment. Specific federal incentive amounts can be found in the booklet to the left.
By having a residential energy evaluation completed through GreenTech, you may qualify for up to $5,000 in rebates from the Government of Canada. The average rebate is expected to be in the vicinity of $1,400; however, incentives paid are based on actual qualifying work completed prior to the post-retrofit evaluation. Although rebates are nice, they're not the only reason to have an evaluation. The many other benefits of the service include:
- provides ways to reduce home energy bills on an ongoing basis
- can help to solve home comfort problems
- can increase a home's resale potential
- can simulate the effectiveness of planned renovation improvements
- provides independent third-party energy efficiency advice
- provides advice that can help to maintain healthy ventilation
- provides a report rating the home's energy efficiency and outlining prioritized recommendations for improvements
- can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases
Your customized report will help you to determine where your home is losing the most energy now, and what you can do to improve its efficiency. |
